not much planning probably resulted in a not so fresh experience this time around. didn’t dig father into the more off the beaten path. another gastro pub for lunch. got bombarded by china tour at les halles. then huffed my way up to sacre coeur up montmarte before deciding to head to champ elysee just to say we were there while descending montmarte. this traveler is experiencing some restless bones and am ready for a less mainstream experience.
up the first flight of stairs
and a pub is there
about e50 to e100 for a portrait. e20 for a caricature.
inside sacre couer. supposedly the youngest chuch in all of the old world.
no fotos allowed inside
but people were blasting away with their cameras and cell phones when the security were not looking
so it was a wtf moment
wonder whether people who built cathedrals and basilicas thought tourism would be supporting these buildings in the future instead of wealthy patrons
well they must get funding from somewhere. these churches are well kept and guarded.
upkeep cost much cost more than the e.50 it costs to light up a candle.
someone has to repair all that gold leaf on top of the ceilings
a bohemian mob on the stairs
somewhere on the middle level of the basilica’s ascending stairway
wonder who thought of the bright idea “hey let’s put a merry go around in front of the basilica”
i was there
