Title of attached music is “Summer Rain” which is appropriate because it really did rain a lot while we were in Maryland. Or, at least, there were a lot of false positives by the weather forecast. So, the day after we arrived in MD, we were supposed to spend the day with relatives, but we delayed it as it was supposed to have rained all week. Thus, we did a day trip into DC on our first full day and the only foretasted dry weekday instead. From Lot A to Jefferson Memorial
We parked at lot A which is really close to Jefferson Memorial. It was a weekday, so we found a space fairly quickly and avoided most of the crowd.
Jefferson Memorial to Capital Bikeshare
After visiting Jefferson Memorial, we took out our bike gear and rented a couple of bikes from a Capital Bikeshare station, and then we’re off to Washington Momument.
We didn’t know you could buy tickets at the Monument. To do what, I am not sure. But, Ellis really wanted to find out. Too bad, tickets for whatever it’s for was sold out.
Washington Monument to White House
The area is very secure. Constantly felt like the authorities were after us.
Took a lunch break between the Monument and White House’s North Lawn and finally got to see the residence.
Made our way back to the South Lawn and was promptly ushered away by security
There were some rain in the morning and the sky was overcast, so we’re lucky to catch a break from a normally hot Maryland during June.
But, staying under the sun was getting a bit unbearable at this point.
Afraid Ellis would over heat, we took her pants off
By this time, I could use a shower, and Mia lost all her biking stamina.
