Childhood Development Notes

Daddy will start reviewing historic theories on childhood development. Hopefully, this will give daddy a guideline as to how to best make me a participant in your growth and maturity process. Daddy took a course in childhood study while he was still an undergraduate because he thought being grounded with these theories would help him out a bit when trying to find out how to best facilitate to your intellectual and emotional learning needs. Daddy has a lot to catch up on. So, give daddy some time to prepare.

Disclaimer: I am not a parent, so the opinions expressed is from the outside looking in. :)

My pet peeve (my own past haha) is the oriental habit of Not Praising Our Kids. We (azns) seem to fall into two camps: Bragging to make the other parent look bad (cf. The Gift”), or, calling our kid “rubbish.” I am exaggerating of course, but when we see it, we roll out eyes and recognize.

Find some middle path in the theories above, and your own history, your wife’s upbringing, and especially baby LS’s own, unique personality.

[ok,ok, I am starting to sound like Polonius (hamlet)-- will stop now]

And, lol, if LS has even a little bit of your personality, man, you will have your hands full.

jl.net has been missing your voice. HaveFaith, Pieter, Samuel, (and others I can’t recall) still misses you badly: and me, natch. jjkimosabe is the new witty/funny guy in the group. Some say meta is back as KingJames. haha. poor KJ I do not think he is meta, but they do sound alike. lol.

Do consider coming back–it is “empty” without you there. :)

    • http://etane.net/ etane

you’re not a parent? what are you waiting for, the stork? = P

think LS is already going to be a handful and don’t think it’s because she’s taking after my personality haha. never really thought about that she has some of my personality tho it does irk me when i see some of my relatives’ expressions and reactions in her. i only try for her to have a personality that she will be happy with. i don’t think most people around me are happy, so i rather she not be like them. grass greener on other side?

jl.net is sucking the life out of all you people! get out while you can! it was “empty” when i was there too but you just didn’t know it haha… not as empty as it is here tho *cricket chirp*

      • Phonow

LOL. I am an old lady–then again, maybe I can be like Angelina Jolie & adopt 50 kids.

Hmm, LS has some of your relatives reactions?? heaven forbid. Must scour psych books for solution. hee hee.

Sucks that the people around you are not happy. Kids pick up stuff like that like a sponge. The main thing is that YOU n WIFE surround each other and LS with love and laughter.

As you might know–I do not understand basketball at all. I just stay there because I am a racist– haha. I like JL only because he is asian. lol. AND I am interested in seeing how Asians feel about issues from around the world. It is one thing to go to Angry Asian Man… but it is another to go to a forum without a set agenda.

I have to take off right now for a lunch date. Will check in later. :-)

        • http://etane.net/ etane

i don’t understand basketball either. i mean i am the biggest ball hogger of them all when i was younger. but, yah, this blog was originally founded to talk about the same issues you talked about sorta the economic and social aspect of the sole asian in nba.

i know it sucks a lot that people around me are not happy but how many of us are really happy. touched on this a bit in a previous blog post. i think most people who spent the prime of their lives during the 70s and 80s were not that happy. too much emphasis on what others are doing and less on what they were doing closer to home.

          • Phonow

You don’t understand bb? hahaha. I usually used your comments as the gold standard, and judged others by whether or not they agreed with you. I am wounded. :-0

So, you started this blog to address those issues? Great concept. I wish it caught on more. But then again, the reason why I like jl.net is because these issues are spontaneously interjected. (With KH, usually in caps. lol.)

People of your generation really got the shaft. I feel like people my age were the last to get a good deal. btw, I was born in the year of the dog. My education was very inexpensive– UH hawaii supported it’s universities. Back then, I paid about $225 per SEMESTER for Grad school. Nowadays, it is closer to $5500 (or more). Has Uni Calif.’s tuition exploded also?

I blame Advertizing/Media for creating the discontent that Generation X,Y, Z feels. The Greed is Good, and ThereIsNoTomorrowBecauseDaddyF***kedUpTheWorld generations. They created a world where wages are kept low, and people are judged for not having the latest and greatest.

So… yeah. I do not blame the 70s/80s generation for being p*ssed and disillusioned. They have the right to be.

Anyway, this is turning out to be a novel– let me hear YOUR thoughts instead. :-)

          • http://etane.net/ etane

it’s true. i don’t know much about basketball. when i play with kids these days, they know way more about cuts and rolls, strategies and plays than i do. it’s ridiculous how much coaches these days emphasize on strategy on very young kids these days. us old timers who talk about games on forums really don’t know what we’re talking about in comparison haha.

the reagan kids and grandkids really got the shaft. but, more so than drop in living standard and living wage but also in terms of our parents perception of what is construed as success. it’s the generation before the reaganites, the boomers, that were too pampered who are really unhappy and unable to cope. whereas, the kids who grew up in that generation i think are doing relatively well.

marketers who used to call the x generation the lost generation are now calling them one of the hardest to market to because they value quality of life over material possessions and with the y generation increasingly difficult because they don’t even want to buy cars. whereas, marketers are still squeezing every lil profit off the baby boomers in the form of late life stage products such as cialis and viagra or whatever the fkin bee is hocking.

tuition to go to UC is almost comparable to USC haha.. well not quite that high but high enough for people who prioritized UC because of price to now also consider USC. my tuition went up 3 folds between my first semester in grad school versus my last semester. and, i got less classes to choose from too. while, our campus has more money than ever. doesn’t make any sense.

          • Phonow

“my tuition went up 3 folds between my first semester in grad school versus my last semester” AND fewer classes to chose from? !! Damn. that must have been hard; kudos to you for finishing your degree.

Of course your campus made tons of money–triple tuition, and cut classes that are not economically efficient.

UH (unfortunate but appropriate acronym for Univ. of Hawaii) is struggling for $. Earlier this year, the legislature wanted to “abolish approximately 33 undergraduate-degree programs — including 11 secondary education programs and four language programs.” It was beaten down, but it scares me to know they are considering such draconian measures. Our athletic programs are losing massive amts of $. But no worries, donors are always willing to support the football team.

I agree, advertisers cater to the baby boomers because we have the greatest #’s w/$. Hmm, just found out that I was born in “Generation Jones.” Wiki lol. Never heard of it. Keeping up w/the Joneses, and entering the workforce during a time of cutbacks. I guess I’m lucky–I never cared for material things, and am happy living a simple life. Found a hubbie who is the same.

You play basketball with kids? Good for you! If they ever sass you, pull a Jason Kidd on them. Just enough to let them know who’s boss. ;)

          • http://etane.net/ etane

tuition wise i am ok because state college tuition was low to begin with. what sucked was my work refused to pay for my tuition otherwise i woulda went to a better school. and, it was harder on my body since full time work and school was very tiring. my school has tons of money coming in from god knows where. lots of donors for sure. in span of 5 years, the entire campus pretty much revamped with new library, stadium, tons of new parking structures and theater not to mention new art and business dept. buildings with new president and professional administrators with high salaries but teachers getting the shaft not to mention students. tons of student protests during the last few years across many of the CSU schools.

playing basketball with kids is more workout than with adults. however, after a cold winter, i am not sure i can continue to keep up with the kids anymore. out of shape.. get tired so easily now haha.

          • Phonow

oh gawd. you worked full time and put yourself through school? sending you some Respect.

chris is doing the same– working, achieving his bs and now, going for his masters. btw, chris is on the road — left last night for indianapolis, then in a week or two, on to kansas. very sad to see him leave. he mentioned he will pop into your site now and then.

i was clicking through your site– aclsd sounds so interesting, especially the facial recognition convo. i also read the hitler conversation. i believe i know who kh and jt are. kh: obvious. jt–knew who he was when you mentioned him aligning himself with supposed alphas. he is the same way now on portal.

hey, off on a tangent– i don’t mean to hijack your site. i realize i am not keeping to the topic (childhood development notes). feel free to delete any post i make– or even tell me to “go away.” For more fun, you can even ban me and i promise, i won’t pull a Voltaire/thomas sowell/currently Samuel. lol.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

if i wanted to ban you woulda done so long ago haha.. not like you’re disrupting any topic centric conversations going on.. *chirp*

i completely forgot about the hitler conversation. don’t remember what that is about. kinda weird how these characters like to impose their “personality” on internet forums. internet is good for research. didn’t know it’s also good for other nit nacks such as pretending to be alpha.

hope chris will find kansas to his liking. i am envious that he’s on a journey to see so many new things. just hopped onto his blog. did you read his feb13 post? just read two paragraphs. very interesting. going to read the rest of it now.

          • Phonow

being banned would bring shame to my family, so i must walk carefully with eyes downcast. :)

the hitler convo is here: http://etane.net/forums/topic/good-ole-days/

speaking of alpha male, he just got into a tussle with Charles the shrink. lol. i am hoping charles publishes his findings one day. Strange people on that website. spooky and fascinating at the same time.

man, chris has lived in so many places worldwide. His mind is so restless–juggles so many projects, so many causes. Hoping he settles down one day, and finds peace. I wish him everything that is good in the world (and a psycho lady free life). haha. added psycho ladies just in case he reads this. ;)

No, I never really read his blog– perhaps I will, now that he is away. he always teased me about not having facebook. maybe i will create one just to lurk. lol.

hope you get to meet each other one day. you are very similar, but, as i have said before, you will either become bff, or hate each other. Photographing tornadoes while popping beers on the roof sounds like a good ice-breaker for you two. :0

          • http://etane.net/ etane

which alpha male? there’s too many haha.

i had some converations with charles. he might be good at what he does if he weren’t giving everyone the same diagnosis. but, who knows, he might be right on.

chris is a lady’s man but attracting all the wrong types of attention eh? haha i thought you read at least the geothermal blog since we talked about it briefly before.

photographing tornadoes will bring people closer together especially if they survive the twister haha. i don’t know i’ve never seen a tornado in person. have no idea what is considered a safe distance to photograph one. if he drops by southern ca…

oh THAT hitler convo. i don’t even remember who i was referring to kh or jt?

          • Phonow

mmm, just saw total eclipse of moon via live streaming. lucky live hawaii–totality happened a little after 12 midnight.

Yesterday (3/19) was day two of charles vs khuang. per charles: ” Damn, you [khuang] have Pronoia. The aggressive type…..” lol. In your conversations w/charles, what does he diagnose people as having??

I usually label people as OCD or borderline personality disorder, or whatever is popular at any given time. My new favorite label will be pronoia haha. am i shallow? definitely.

I remember telling chris that YOU were the chick magnet on jl.net. all the ladies enjoyed yakking with you. lol. you even got sophia to post pictures. :-0 if you get together w him, the ladies of the world had better beware: the lady’s man and the chick magnet ;)

Didn’t know chris wrote about geothermal. Geothermal is controversial in Hawaii, so there are always news articles regarding geothermal. The controversy centers on pollution (sulfuric acid), and religion (Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of fire–geothermal taps into her energy).

Getting late… but want to show you a neat picture from the big island (hawaii island)– not tornadoes, but close enough :-) You may have to click on the top line to see picture.

            http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/2p6sbo/six_waterspouts_form_due_to_the_intense_heat_from/

          • http://etane.net/ etane

just read about the moon thing this morning which is too late…

you know that classic rationalization/projection of blaming others for their own faults? that’s what charles diagnosis everyone with. i mean, who doesn’t do that? it’s sorta meaningless to say that one does this isn’t it? a healthy psyche as well as an unhealthy psyche all depend on this type of rationalization. it’s particular to how it’s used to hurt others is when it’s wrong.

i didn’t even know what pronia meant. i had to look it up. i am still not sure what it means. it sounds like a toyota. previa or prius.

sophia just used to as excuse to do something she otherwise woulda done anyways haha… i am no ladies man. when girl sees me, they don’t walk, they run away.

didn’t know about the issues regarding geothermal in hawaii. just in general i thought it’s too costly to build and just assumed there’s some oil or gas lobby fighting against it. didn’t know about the pele thing haha. who came up with that geothermal is sucking pele’s blood energy thing? just want to know whether it’s a shaman or a lobbyist.

and that pic is awesome. think chris and i can take better pics of twisters though haha.

          • Phonow

i’m a sucker for celestial events. i read that up to 80% of people in the world have not seen the milky way due to light pollution. Sad. But then again, i will never get to see the Salton Sea and a billion other places, except through photographs. :)

once in a while charles irks me when he falls into shrink mode on the board; he hints that he is psychoanalyzing posters, but he never goes further. Finally kh irritated him enough that he spat out “Pronoia!” To me at least, kh won that round. charles was no longer hinting. of course, i may be projecting. lol.

Charles diagnosed kh as having pronoia after kh went on a long rant about “WE lin fans” vs “YOU lin hate trolls.” To me, Pronoia is like the lone ranger/tonto joke punchline: what do you mean WE white man? I have an in depth knowledge of the condition because of wiki. haha.

Girls run away? lol. I doubt it very much. The men I do doubt are men who brag about how much women love them. hubbie just got home. will continue later. :-)

I want to see the northern lights

          • Phonow

            Alaska? hahahaha

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

You can see them at Yellowstone National Park here and there. When I was in Indiana last week people in Chicago was able to see it. Some freak release from the sun caused it

          • Phonow

            sun f*art.

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

            Basically lol

Earth’s magnetic field was disrupted by a coronal mass eruption, causing a huge solar flare (solar radiation). The electron release was strong enough to interact with the nitrogen (pollution) in our atmosphere to make pretty lights and screw up gps units across the globe. hahahaaaa

          • Phonow

Hmmm… looks like etane has left the room. He has the same cold I do. Must be exhausted. I was hoping to eavesdrop on you two conversing on the Calif drought situation above. :( .

would love to see the northern lights. why would it screw up gps units?

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

The geomagnetic storm from the solar flare will bombard the electronics within the satellites, usually a non permanent disruption if communication occurs. When the satellites are not able to communicates, then gps units are not able to gain a lock on position. Next thing you know people are driving through the old county buffet instead of parking in the parking lot.

          • Phonow

Lol. A drive through buffet. Great idea.

Anyway, since etane is not here, maybe we should stop conversing on his site. :-0. Big guy is home– time for me to make dinner. :-)

          • Phonow

hubbie came home and decided to take a nap. :) to continue my message below:

Men who brag about being the answer to women’s prayers are usually anything but. Women who meet that kind of guy usually roll their eyes and silently curse the darkness. Hmmmmm. You’re smart enough to know that. You’re a chick magnet pretending not to be a chick magnet because you know women hate braggarts. Caught you. haha.

No, seriously, I think the reason why the ladies on jl.net like you so much is because you are an intelligent guy who is able to converse on a broad range of subjects with knowledge, wit and charm. Never smug, never hateful (unless a person deserves it). = chick magnet. :)

Re geothermal shaman or lobbyist. Sometimes both. lol. hawaiian activists can use religion to manipulate the process in order to gain power. Mililani Trask (lawyer) used native hawaiian gathering rights to lobby against geothermal. After that company folded, she used her lineage (traced back to Pele) to lobby for geothermal –giving hawaiians (and people in the area) a cut of the profits. http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/10/8/hot-rocks-in-hawaii.html

I usually do not even touch Native Hawaiian topics. There are so many factions, so many heated opinions, well… to me, better to let Hawaiians find their own way. I support their cause, but they need to speak with one voice before anything meaningful can be accomplished.

Lastly: I have no doubt you and Chris can take a better photo of a twister. Lol. But depends on how many beers you have before one shows up. haha!

if you’re a sucker for celestial events then you should be into photography too. i have a coworker who takes pictures of stars and other stuff in the sky. he has a big telescope he attaches his camera to. and, he has one of those things that track stars as the earh rotates, so his images don’t get blurred during long exposures. his shots are pretty.

and, who said i am not a braggart? i mean i make up stuff on jl.net all the time haha. braggarts have their own charms. they are great storytellers. reminds me of baron munchausen the greatest tall tale teller in history. kids love adults who can weave imaginative tales. maybe the girls who are attracted to my “intellect” are really into fairy tales haha.

so, native hawaiian tribes are very fragmented and unable to speak with one voice?

and, i don’t drink much. definitely not beer. i never acquired taste for it for some reasons. i have girly taste when it comes to alcohol. some white wine with fruity accent like reisling and maybe some smooth cognac is all i can handle haha.

          • Phonow

speaking of celestial events, look for the red moon coming up on april 4: http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/san-francisco

Chris wants one of those track things and the telescope w/camera attachment. lol. Camera people keep on chasing the dragon. just…one…more…toy…. LOL. I haven’t taken a picture since disposable cameras were popular. My pictures always disappoint, so I gave up. I appreciate real photographers.

You’re not a braggart– you’re a Hero–you fearlessly battled Metalogic and the CAPS GOD. Get out the popcorn, grab a comfortable chair :-)

Actually, I always thought of you as a trickster character– blurting out the truth when no one else dared to. (or sometimes, when no one else bothered to. LOL). Sometimes trickster, sometimes anti-hero, sometimes dung beetle, always entertaining: Etane!

Maybe not so much tribes, but factions. Different leaders with opinions on which direction the Hawaiian Nation should be heading.

I don’t drink much either, but I do love the margaritas, and girly martinis (lychee, green apple), cosmos, oh hell, give me the bar. lol.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

i don’t want one of those tracking things. i am waiting for my friend to receive his new tracking thing so i can borrow his old one.

didn’t you hear that heros don’t do too well these days? my sister has been trying to teach me that nice guys always finish last for a long time. and what do i have to lose by arguing with a schizo and cap gOd? haha..

some say tricketer. mod think i am a bait such as jail bait haha. he said in email saying he thinks i get people to say bad things on the forum.

my friend sent me a few pics of red moon he took before. it was during an eclipse or something. I didn’t know moon turned red during certain phases of an eclipse. i photoshopped it for him back to white. he’s like.. you don’t get it do you? haha

          • Phonow

Jailbait? you’re young, but not that young. lol. wiki: Jailbait: slang for a minor who is younger than the age of consent for sexual
activity, with the implication that an older person might find him or
            her sexually attractive.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

yah i function like a jailbait on jl.net except i don’t get old guys to go after younger boy or girl instead i get them to act nuts. different type of fetish but same effect haha. at least that’s how the mod views me.

          • Phonow

the mod on jl.net has bigger problems now. there’s a Sino-Philippine war going on. A fair number of fans think that Clarkson is Black because he looks Black (even tho Clarkson is half filipino). Someone is even telling Kpkafle (I think he is filipino) to go back to KKKfans.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

yah i read that earlier. love jimmybuckets reply that chinese are repressed in se asia. he must be from mainland.

          • Phonow

AHH… you still check out jl.net once in a while. :)

hope mod bans jimmybuckets– he is the real troll. in fact, mod should just ban anyone with “buckets” in username.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

i missed the last game, so i went to read what people are saying about lin’s performance. clarkson scored more than lin, so the argument was about whether clarkson was ball hog or not. i thought byron is at his mom’s funeral. but, people still complaining about bs’s bad coaching. hmm

          • Phonow

i guess people are getting tired of waiting for godot (linsanity), so they fight about anything/everything.

lol. blaming bs is an automatic response. spooky yes? if something is repeated enough, then yes, sadam hussein caused 9/11.

off on a tangent, how is your anemone & clown fish doing? saw this & thought about your salt water tank. lol

edit: i guess i don’t know how to attach a gif. lol

          • http://etane.net/ etane

my anemone and clown fish both died = ( anemone died because i neglected the tank for awhile and the water ran out of nutrients. clown fish died mysteriously. was doing fine at night and found dead in morning. probably killed by the wave maker…

            arghh!!

          • Phonow

rip Nemo san. Is that a picture of the deceased?

Poor anemone, maybe next life, will reincarnate as a mantis shrimp. kick butt anemone, kick butt.

Have you thought about jellyfish? Probably difficult. Then again, maybe not–I am assuming that since they look fragile, they must be fragile. Mesmerizing creatures.

After my fish died, all of my hopes, dreams, and brine-shrimp paste was bestowed upon the sole survivor–an apple snail. She was truly beloved, and, a lot more fun than you would think. :) Sadly, they are a major agricultural pest and vector.

Heard from Chris– he made it safely to KS–and started work yesterday. He did not get to shoot the Ozarks: snow storm + flash flood = get okole (azz) out of there. lol. Sounds beautiful out there. Can’t wait for pictures.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

            yup that’s him.

jelly fish needs his own tank i think… those round kind. been sick and neglecting my tanks again. no room or energy for another tank!

you had a 20 something gallon tank with only a snail? that’s how my tank was for awhile after my anemone died. i only had a nassarius snail in the tank for about a month.

so has chris’ lunch been stolen by yogi bear? kansas has snow storm and flash flood, now? serious? if it floods, i urge chris to go to indiana. i read someone is building a replica of noah’s arc there. chris can hop on.

          • Phonow

Gosh, hope you feel better soon. There is something going around here– with a cough so bad people sprain their ab muscles. The fatigue lasts over a month. :-( Damn, I am assuming you have the cold; I pray you don’t have something worst.

I had a beautiful hexagon 22? gal fish tank– but gave it away after a move. Apple Snail had to make do in a cozy 10 gal tank. Beautiful little critter–iridescent yellow. When I turned on the light, she would climb to the top & beg (open her foot) for food. lol.

Chris says there is an arsonist in the area. So he has been fighting fires. Noah’s Ark? hahaha. Indiana: What a joke. Chris is much more Kevin Costner (waterworld). “I don’t need no stinking Ark.” Actually you should yak with Chris about Indiana– he spent a lot of time there.

Read about Calif’s continuing water problems. Bad stuff. Forget oil. Water wars. A bunch of people here are on catchment. They hurt badly whenever the rains go away.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

yah i probably got what everyone else got. chris’ kicks his job off by fighting fires? talking about initiation by fire… why was he in indiana? since i am sick i stay home and watch youtube. saw bill nye vs ken ham which took place at some creationish theme park in indiana. somehow that ham guy raised $40m building the ark.

we recently ratified some water bill in california: http://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_1,_Water_Bond_%282014%29

we’ve only been trying to pass this bill during the last 10 years but couldn’t agree on how much pork to put in it. perhaps it’s not a good idea to live in southern ca for long…

          • Phonow

whew. glad you have the call-911-death-cough, and nothing worst. :)

omg. looked up nye vs ham– expecting some sort of boxing match. recoiled in horror. hahaha. THEN i went back to finish reading your comment. damn. you’re one of those CSPAN guys. I have a short attention span–mostly touchy-feely ted talk shows.

Sorry–I was not clear: he is fighting fires in KS– at the National Park. He initially flew out to Indiana to visit fam & friends, then headed down to the Ozarks, then to KS. The snow/flash flood happened in the Ozarks.

Hmm, skimmed some articles about Calif’s water woes and wars. Sounds like Hawaii. Growth vs environment vs agriculture. Bill is expensive– and will end up costing much more. Are the big ag farms in California doing their fair share in implementing water saving techniques? It’s easy to tell families to conserve, but the real water hog is agriculture.

Moving out of So.Ca? Hawaii is good. :-0 More expensive than Calif, but I remember Daniel Dae Kim saying that he moved to Hawaii because his kids were thrilled that “everybody else looked like them.”

          • http://etane.net/ etane

no i am not one of those cspan guys! haha.. that nye/ham vid was recommended by youtube. and, the sadistic side of me always like to see these creationist vs the world type of debates. i thought nye had a lot of holes in his debates when addressing ham’s points. but, he probably left those holes there deliberately thinking there’s a trap on other side of ham’s fallacies.

oh i thought u meant chris lived in indiana before.

central valley has been getting free water for about 50 years now. for lack of better term, dems want to shut off free water to them. but, pubs want to keep it open. another issue is water shed versus dams. dems want water sheds and pubs want dams. so, in the proposition, we’re doing both. however, i fail to undertand how we can benefit from dams.

what hurts our water supply is our inability to collect rain water. everything is irrigated directly into the ocean. water sheds will help collect these waters locally. wut’s good a dam going to do?

          • Phonow

gosh. i couldn’t watch something like that. i’d be the person in the audience writing out a grocery list in the middle of the debate.

lol. Chris did live in Ind before. he was an apple farmer– had some rare varieties. hahaha. I see that HE has arrived.

          • Phonow

LOL etane: where are you? It’s a party on your blog. :)

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

            Here you go Etane :)

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

To many bad artifacts in the pic to be usable, but thought you maybe interested.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

did you recently capture this? nice purple hazy broken sky.

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

Yeah it was lastnght. Lol, I was getting electrocuted while taking this photo. First it started as a normal storm that rolled in, so i lined up for the shot. then the sky started lighting up and I was getting a lot of discharge of electricity on my arms. The broken sky is a lightening bolt during the 45sec. exposure. after the shot I went inside and it started hailing, it was pitch black outside. The hail was approx. 3-3.5 inches in diameter. It was later confirmed that a tornado touched down approx a mile from me.

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

            Yeah, out in Kansas

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

no snow where I am at. There was snow in the Ozarks and a flash flood where I was sleeping on the side of the road, in my truck, during my trip lol.

          • http://etane.net/ etane

did you ship your truck from hawaii to say california then drove to indiana then to kansas?

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith

Nah, I flew to Indiana and bought a truck, then drove it to Kansas.

          • Phonow

and, btw, you don’t get them to ACT nuts, they ARE nuts. You merely give them the opportunity to express themselves.

            If not hero, tragic hero?

and re: photo-shopping the red moon: LOL. That’s what friends are for. hahahaha.

Hmm, nice guys finish last? Yeah, I can see that, but I hate to see it put that way. Don’t be a sucker, but don’t harden your heart either. The hard part is finding a happy medium.

          • http://www.christophernovasmith.photography/ Christopher Nova Smith
